Looking for Usagi Yojimbo Metal Miniatures

Post by PJaensch »

Hi, I am a painting hobbyist and Usagi Yojimbo fan. I recently became aware of some metal miniatures issued for a while in the early 2000s of Usagi and some of his friends.

Here's a link to an image of the ones I'm talking about: http://usagiyojimbo.com/collectibles/co ... lminis.jpg

If you have some of these to sell, please email me at [edited for safety sake], and let's see if we can't work out a deal.

Thanks!

I saw one of the characters in the set listed on ebay yesterday, forget which one (not Usagi).

Thanks, I am actually the high bidder on that one already. :D

I am particularly hoping to find Usagi himself, and I confess a soft spot in my heart for little Jotaro.

If anyone has any to part with, I assure you they will go to a good home. Hm, I wonder if I could upload some pictures of my past work here...

Just my luck though, all the lines I become excited about are always out of print. The short-lived star wars line from WOTC back in the 2000s - all OOP by the time I caught on. The Clan Wars minis from Reaper and AEG, likewise. Sigh, why do the best minis always last such a short time...

The thing about these Usagi minatures that really bugs me is, I don't have any of them, and the company that made them was located almost right in my back yard.

The people who operated the company which produced these also owned several comic shops in southwest Michigan, one of which was here in Kalamazoo and where I bought most of my earliest Usagi comics.

They also put out a really cool referance book called The Comic Book Index. Somewhat out of date now, but had some great information on credits for comics listed by artist and by character.....

Well, if I end up winning the one I'm bidding on now, I will probably dither for a few weeks before settling in to work on it. Since about 2004, I've been unable to work in anything but oils, so, whereas I used to be able to do 10 minis in a night, now I may work on a handful of minis at a time over a period of several weeks/months. It's all thanks to those years where I took a break from minis and played with canvases, and I couldn't do them in the acryls I was used to.

All of this is just boring background to my main point here, which is my promise to post photos here (or elsewhere on the forums) of any Usagi line minis I end up painting. :D

Sounds cool! Will be looking forward to seeing them sometime in the future.

I think the fact that I would have to paint them myself detered me from ever trying to get any of them.

I'm still missing Jotaro myself, Stan sadly didn't have that one spare to be able to sell me at the time; I got set one and somehow missed set two but was able to get all but one through him.

I did get one of the proofing sets through, so I do have a Jotaro in a way, just not in one in the proper packaging.

Lol, I don't care about the packaging. I know collectors do, but for me, it's the opportunity to paint these things that really excites me. Hm...I guess I could try sculpting them out of greenstuff first, and THEN painting them, if I am never able to find the originals.

Apart from Usagi and Jotaro, I'd like to get Tomoe as well.

Well, I'd like to get them all, really, but speaking as to favorites. :)

Well, I snagged that Gen mini on ebay. It will be interesting to paint it up. I also got a few of the old TMNT ones.
