Good day. SO I am happy to say that the Latest Usagi sketch that I got from Mr. Sakai at SDCC 2010 is now up for auction. Just as a reminder here is the why I collect sketches and auction them off for CF.

One of my very good friend's daughter has Cystic Fibrosis. I was at SDCC this year and Mr. Sakai graciously did a sketch for us to auction off. Well finally the time has come to sell the sketch. All of the $$$ will be given directly to the CF donation site.

You can read about Alyssa and her story here:

100% of the $$$ raised b y selling the CF sketches goes right to the Great Strides (Cystic Fibrosis) website to be used for research. This year at SDCC I got over 50 sketches so I am hoping to beat last year's record of $2,260.

I decided to put the Usagi sketch in my first round because it is one of my favorites. Mr. Sakai sketched this using a pack of crayons that were given to him at SDCC.

Here it is.

As always, a HUGE thanks to Mr. Sakai. He is one of my absolute most favorite people I've met doing the auctions.

Here is the ebay link.

I love that piece. I got a video of Stan working on it at the con with my son watching on. Then he started playing with Stan's crayons :D

Robert Kassebaum gave me a box of crayons at the con, and I had fun playing with them.

Really happy to catch this post, and pleased to see that the proceeds of the sale all go to such a worthy cause. I put in a bid, and although I'd be glad to pick up my first piece of Usagi original art, would be pretty happy to be outbid as well.

Hope it keeps going up!

Elveen,

Do you have a website or anything dedicated to this fundraiser you are doing? I mentioned your auction of comic art to support cystic fibrosis research to a colleague, and I think he would also be interested in more information and maybe bidding on something.

I can't send him this link, because the link fails without a dojo sign-in.

Regards,
Peter

I have wanted to create like a website or even just a blog with all of the sketches (I currently have 56 of them that I got at SDCC) and the dates when they will be auctioned off. One of the issues is the ebay has some stringent rules about charity auctions. So I don't state that it is a charity auction in the listing. I also do not know what ebay would say about me posting a link to an outside web page/blog with the explanation and schedule of all the sketches.

The link to my store is here:

http://stores.ebay.com/Elveens-Comics-and-Collectibles

You can give this and he can see the sketches. Also, I will be having sketches auctioned off just about every week for the next 5 or so months.

Thanks for sharing this with your friend.

Cystic Fibrosis is a terrible disease and when I heard the story about what my friend's little girl had/has to go through....... I just had to do something.

Good luck. It is beautiful.

And one thing that you can't tell by the scan is the way the colors blend and the texture and depth. I really wanted to start this year's auctions off with a bang.

This Usagi was an easy choice for that purpose.
