So, I wasn't sure where to put this thread. I've realized that with some unexpected expenses that have come up, it might be a good idea to sell off the collection of Usagi hardcovers I've assembled over the years. A few I think I will keep, like Space Usagi, and a couple others with special sentimental value. But I realized that for those I would consider selling, I really don't have much idea on value.
I wondered if folks here could offer some guidance on what I could or should expect if I tried to sell off my collection:
Volume 8, Shades of Death, 377/500
Volume 9, Daisho, 346/500
Volume 10, The Brink of Life and Death, 247/500
Volume 11, Seasons, 405/500
Volume 17, Duel at Kitanoji, 166/400
Volume 22, Tomoe's Story, 188/300
Volume 2, Samurai (I'd have to unwrap the bag to check the number)
Volume 6, Circles, 22/750
All are in pretty pristine shape, with the only exception that I think volumes 2 and 8 have some minor creases in the dustjacket.
Thanks for any suggestions, gang!

Re: Usagi Hardcovers
I am not well enough versed in the values of the various HCs, so I can't be of much help to you.
However, I would be interested in obtaining #6 & #8 if possible, once you determine what you want for them.

Re: Usagi Hardcovers
If you are selling, I would be very interested in #10 and #11.
If you're looking for an estimated value for the books, I would think it's safe to say they are all worth at least $80 each, but selling them for that much is harder than you would think. #2 is easily the most valuable, while #22 is the least valuable. If I were you, I would put them up on eBay for bid and start it at $60. If it looks good enough (make sure you take really good pictures), you could get considerably more than that.

Re: Usagi Hardcovers
I've bought a few over the last 6 months, and they ranged from $50-60. The volumes I bought ranged from #9-25. I've seen a volume #5 sell for $55 a few months back & volume #2 sell for $60. Ebay bids in the last year have ranged from $50-110 that I've seen. The one that went for $110 was volume #18.
I wouldbe very interested in obtaining volumes 2, 6, 8, 11 & 17.

Re: Usagi Hardcovers
Hey guys, thanks for the mini market research. I tried looking on Ebay and various used book dealer sites and it's hard to find enough of these things to get a real sense for what comps would be. So, your info about what you've seen pricewise over time has been quite helpful. But it sounds like in most cases I'd be selling at a loss (I think I generally paid in the 100-200 range on at least most of these). So, I will give it some thought, and if I do throw them up on Ebay or something, I will definitely let the Dojo forums know. In any case, I will hold off for a while so as not to detract any Usagi fans' mad money from the auction for Stan and Sharon.
Thanks again everyone!

Re: Usagi Hardcovers
Just as an FYI, at the end of last week volumes 20-24 sold between $70-165 on bids. 20 & 21 were on the high end of that.

Re: Usagi Hardcovers
Thanks Marco. Once the CAPS auction winds down, I think I might put them on Ebay, with a high starting price. I know that probably will discourage getting rolling bids, but I'm keener to not take a loss than I am to try for a runaway bidding war, if that makes sense.
