Re: USAGI YOJIMBO STAN SAKAI RAREST PRINT on Ebay
I bought one directly from Stan a couple months back for less. Mine isn't from the Belgian run of 25, however, but is from an Artist's Proof (or something similar) run of 15. I'm guessing "E.A." stands for Edition Artiste.

Re: USAGI YOJIMBO STAN SAKAI RAREST PRINT on Ebay
I don't know where the edition of "25" came from because I am very certain I signed much more than that when I met with the Belgian publisher at Angouleme. There were 15 prints in the Artist Edition.
Erik and I met at a restaurant in Angouleme, France for me to sign these. I remember we did not have a soft lead pencil, so I had to use a very thin, very hard lead mechanical pencil. That is why my signature is so light.
Unfortunately, I just have a few of these left for my own archives, and sold the last one I am willing to part with at WonderCon a few weeks ago. Yes, it was for much less than his asking price.

Re: USAGI YOJIMBO STAN SAKAI RAREST PRINT on Ebay
You can't even see the number in the lower left corner there
Note that the numbering is actually in Roman numerals. The print I own is XX / XXV (ie. 20 / 25), and was acquired from someone on the Dojo here (sorry whoever for my failing memory, I can't recall whom it was!).
(you can hopefully JUST about see that in this shot! https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5092/558 ... 147e_o.jpg )
So, up to you Spam, if you want to splash out the money on it. IIRC it's been listed on eBay for a fair while at that price... could make an offer perhaps.

Thanks for all the info. It is a beautiful piece. Hopefully it will be around for a while. I'm still paying off all the Usagi books and gear I bought at Wonder Con.
Re: USAGI YOJIMBO STAN SAKAI RAREST PRINT on Ebay
Dear Readers,
Enigma (aka Erik Deneyer ) has also made truly wonderful Usagi Yojimbo comics with covers by European artists.
When the print came out i contacted Enigma by email.
I sent several emails over several months with no response.
Enigma writes saying he has several of these prints to trade if i could help him with an ebay shipment.
He wanted to buy a few Batman toys for his son and the eBay sellers would not ship to him out of the usa.
That was the whole agreement.
Over the next 3 weeks many Batmen, all other characters, Batmobiles, Batcaves, equipment, etc., arrived at my house.
There were 4 bushel apple boxes of Bat stuff! One box was just capes and equipment!
A few weeks after i shipped them, 4 prints showed up in the mail.
I seem to remember sending them to Todd,
Steve, Mayhem...my memory fails me now.
Enigma was unhappy with me because i did not send the packages to him as a "gift" to avoid the heavy Batman import taxes.......This was not previously discussed and i would not have broken the law anyway.
The best twist was at the end.
I had one print left.
Fanfan wanted one but i could not help him.
2 days after the package arrived from Enigma, another package arrived.
Sensei Sakai sent me a Belgium print as a gift.
After all the gyration i still had one extra print.
Fanfan got that print in trade for a real French beret for my head.
The beret has not shown up yet.
Fanfan told me my head is too big for a regular beret.
This story is true to the best of my memory...
Best wishes to all!
go
ps. I do not think this is the rarest Usagi Yojimbo print. Maybe that will be the next UYD trivia question.....

My print, courtesy of go, is number XXI / XXV
I pulled it out and looked at it last night. One of these days I need to get it framed.

Mine, like jabba's is numbered "3/15", not in roman numerals, and I absolutely LOVE IT!
Such a great print.

Thanks in retrospect Go, sorry I couldn't recall it was you I got the print from...

(mainly because it's one of the few things I don't own!)
No, it isn't the rarest print, I'm pretty sure I know what the answer to that isgo wrote:ps. I do not think this is the rarest Usagi Yojimbo print. Maybe that will be the next UYD trivia question.....

Re: USAGI YOJIMBO STAN SAKAI RAREST PRINT on Ebay
I found this posted by Stan about ten years back...
So maybe the ones with the Roman numerals are the APs?The Belgian print had an edition of 25 Artists Proofs and a regular edition of (I think) 100.
