A nice set on ebay. I'm currently saving money, so I'll pass on it, but it might interest some of you:

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway. :)

If the only option is to buy it now why are people "watching it"?

I did this for the cartoonists exhibit at Big Kids that asked, "What is your favorite toy?" I did not have much time, so did Usagi. Other cartoonists included Sergio Aragones, Scott Shaw!, Jeff Keane, Bobby London and Mike Kazaleh.

I'll sometimes "watch" a buy-it-now to remind myself to look at it later when I have more time. Also, if the buy-it-now price drops, you'll get an email, so it's a good notification if you're interested, but only at a lower price.

Huh, couldn't you just ask the seller if they would sell it to you for X amount of money or is that against eBay law?

I suppose they charge a fee to add the make an offer option to each auction. I guess it's time to brush up on my eBay knowledge.

Some of us just watch auctions that we are interested in, even if we can't afford them at the time. If you watch something, you can pull it back up easier than searching for it again, especially if the auction has ended. sometimes I like to see if something actually sold, even if I didn't buy it. Also makes it easier for us poor people to find things that are selling for expensive amounts in case we hit the mega millions jackpot....

Actually no, it comes as part of the BIN option. Now that in itself does cost a tiny fee extra, but free if your listing overall is free.

Now I feel silly because I do not see a Make an Offer button anywhere on the auction!

Sorry, I should have clarified. You still have to enable "best offer" in the auction listing, but it costs nothing extra if you are using BIN or fixed price. You can also specify a minimum price that offers below are automatically rejected.
