I have a thread posted in the general section but I thought this might be the forum to also share this statue with since the artists are on this forum.
I'm loving it. This is probably the most accurate representation of Usagi in statue/figure form I've seen. Definitely better than the Usagi statue from a few years ago. Bravo!
Thanks Todd, I'm definitely loving it myself and I can't wait to get started on the rest! No matter how much I love Usagi I could never bring myself to buy the statues because it just didn't feel like they captured "Usagi" to me. I guess it's just the artist in me being very critical of the craftsmanship. I've been waiting a long time for a good Tomoe, Gen, Katsuichi and jotaro figure and now I'm finally going to see it get made.
Here's a pic of Usagi in the simple grey form. I kind of like it this way since you can see all the lines. The previous pic was painted in photoshop just to show people how it would look.
Jelly3 wrote:Ohhhhhhhhh I fall in love with him. Wonderful craft! You have skill of the art of him. Will you make more statues of other characters no matter villian or hero?
Yes Jelly3,
I hope to make a lot more. Take a look at my original thread of the line up that I'm planning to do.
Which characters do you plan to do? I hope to see a Gen! Have you tried showing these examples to companies that market statues like this? They really should hire you.
The upcoming line up will be Jotaro, Tomoe, Gen and Katsuichi. Take a look at my original thread in the "general" section titled "New Usagi Maquette (statues)" of more detailed pics. I'll be posting some turnarounds of Usagi sometime today in that thread.
If you go there, you will also see a teaser of Zato Ino.
You did an incredible job. I agree, the first UY statue didn't do the character justice, especially with the gray fur. Yours is probably the first ever 3D physical representation that actually looks 100% like Usagi from the comics. It's actually a good blend of retro and present day Usagi, at least from my perspective, and that's a HUGE plus (how'd you do that??). I can't wait to see your other pieces!
Hopefully one day you'll consider doing a pure "retro" Usagi, much like what Mirage did with their TMNT statue line, which I still consider to be the best ever comics statues produced.
I love this look of Usagi. All the proportions of this Usagi is the one I love. The height the width just seem right. Usagi's gone through lots of changes throughout the years but this is the one that I feel works best.
I am actually thinking of doing a "retro" Usagi from the Albedo/Summer special days. I have a lot of things planned which I think would be pretty neat and things that the fans would enjoy.
Here are some turnarounds that I put up in the other thread but I'll put it on here as well. Hope you like them. I'll also post the next 5 that I'm doing. Everyone will look exactly like they do iin the picture except for Jotaro. I'm still trying to get the right feel for him.
Keep a lookout in the in the general section for more pictures of Ino that I may be posting tomorrow in the "Usagi maquette thread".
In this "art" section though, I will be posting images that I had my friends from the movie industry do for me of their interpretation of Usagi. I might start posting a picture per day starting next week or tomorrow. They're pretty cool and interesting interpretations. I've shown one to Stan already which he enjoyed. Stan has told me that he really likes the statue as well.
I'm glad you guys are enjoying the pictures. Bear in mind the Ino pictures are a work in progress but I thought it would be cool to show you guys the behind the scenes work and what goes into creating one of these figures.
I'm not sure if you saw my other thread but do you have any idea on how we can raffle off one of these statues to coincide with the 100th issue of Usagi?
Thanks,
Roel
