A friend sent me a link to the website of David Petersen, creator of indie hit Mouse Guard, saying there was a piece that I'd be interested to see. Needless to say these are fantastic! I especially like the Autumn image.

Wish I'd had the scratch to commission a piece from him at NYCC.

Definitely COOL!

Hopefully, we will get a chance to see Stan's piece featuring the Mouse Guards sometime soon as well.

I received the original art and full size print from David today, and it is just gorgeous.

Meanwhile, I finished my piece for him. I'll send scans of the b/w and color pieces to Todd, and let him post it on the Dojo.

Really great;
now we've got an idea where Usagi's ears are when he is wearing a hat....just dangling down his neck where one can't see them... :wink:

Glad you like the finished piece and the original b&w piece, Stan! (and all of you in the dojo as well!)

I like the quiet moments in stories that give them depth. I know Stan infuses Usagi stories with history, authentic activities, pottery, artwork, and symbols. I wanted to show my appreciation for that and give a 'year of Usagi' without just putting him in a cool pose or fighting a foe (also an important part of his life as well, but I wanted to do something different.)

I have seen scans of the b&w and color (watercolor no less!!) piece Stan has done for Mouse Guard and trust me when I tell you it looks FANTASTIC!! It was my pleasure to trade images Mr. Sakai, and I look forward to seeing you soon in Michigan!

let me be the first to welcome you David, to the dojo! I love the 4 seasons pin-up and I can't wait to see Stan's reciprocal piece. I was hoping to see the original at MCCC but that's ok, maybe I'll see Stan's original instead! Meanwhile welcome again David!

Ohhhhh....these are really beautiful.
They look like something out of a children's storybook. :P
