Usagi Yojimbo DojoBoard

Hello fellows,

first of all i would like to apologize, because i am not very present those last monthes on the forum. The fact is since i came back from China between health and work, i didn't have too much time or mood to participate.
I would like to thank all folks, friends and member of an unofficial UY hard fan collector to have taken care of me and shipped to me a lot of stuff and good vibes.

Well, i still have minor health souvenir from China, but nothing to worry about. About work, well the end of the year was tough, my company is merging and after some knives in my back things are going well for me. I am promoted "mobility" national project manager of the R&D direction of my company, i manage a new entity of 6 guys. Hope money will come ! nothing is signed but i suppose there is no trick.

Well, here is a fan art we made some months ago with my friend Laurent, i should have send it to editor Diana, but since it is Christmas, here a little present to you.

Seems to be some great posibilities in how the story can be read....

either on a strictly action level or on a metaphorical level.....

I prefer to think of it as Chizu saving Usagi from the dark and deadly depression which undoubtably must arise in any honorable samurai by being a ronin, reminding him what it means to be a samurai and to inspire him to continue to follow the bushido code.

Of course, that is just one way to interpret it.

I was thinking the same thing!:D That was such a cute scene from the story too.

It's a neat effect here. I wonder if that's... Chizu? Somehow it makes sense that a ninja would know a thing or two about taming unruly shadows.

Well, since we already made fanarts, i wanted to make something special, in one page that could be easily print somewhere. I think about it during one week. Then it came to my mind visually this scene of fighting (Usagi and his shadow) and the title (that was somekind of joke with B movie). I talked with Laurent (you remember my friend who did that : , , ) and at the second attempt it was done.

Interesting. When we practice martial arts and zen meditation we are confrontated to devils of mountain's den. Those devils are symbolically our part of shadow (bad instincts, fright, anger...), things that can emerge when you are alone with yourself (typically in a long state of meditation). things you have to face. Somekind of your worst enemy is yourself.

In Hirata "Kyudo's soul" there is a few pages on this. Our apprenctice bowman has to stay one night to focus one point in a temple (there is a cemetery). Devils appear.It was a test of his master to see if he got enough determination to become "first under the sky"

It could be fun to see Usagi young or Jotaro lives this kind of experience.

Absolutely, it is Chizu (you know i am a member of the Chizu fan club). Who else could have handle a shadow better than another shadow?

That would be neat^_^ I really hope someone will message me if a dojo member's drawing shows up in a letters column or what have you. I mostly collect the graphic novels, so I'm afraid it'd come out and I'd miss it otherwise^^;

Oh, that's great! I was half afraid you might not feel up to traveling about on business after all this. Good to know it hasn't got your spirits down^_^ And if you think you'll have any free time while you're over, we could totally go hit the parks again if you felt up to it/wanted too...

About trip, i won't make long trip right now but all should be ok soon. Moreover i think some sun could be great.

This time i would like to see the Kennedy space center, and perhaps to see alligators in the Tampa (i saw a Simpson episod when they go in Florida yesterday)

But we'll see, it will depend of the time i have, if i have a driver, if take a car...

Do you mean Busch Gardens in Tampa? They also have a Nile crocodile. I think it's a 2 to 2 1/2 hour drive from coast to coast (Kennedy Space Center to Busch Gardens)

Oh! You are coming back to the MegaCon??? Neat^_^ I'll have to start putting back my pennies and get a pass for this year too.

I'm not really sure how to find the Space Center from Orlando, but if you'd like to visit Disney World while you're here, my family and I would be glad to take you, Mr. Sakai^_^ Though I don't know how you feel about theme parks. And I'm afraid the only alligators I've seen out there are in the water hazards of the golf course. ^^;
