My wife surprised me last month for my birthday with this cool collage. At first glance it looks like its just a picture from the back of Dark Horse issue #50. On closer inspection you can see its actually made up of hundreds of scraps of paper and fabric. Notice the map of Japan behind the bird. The scraps of paper on the side is kind of her signature for her collages.

That is such a cool birthday gift!

You are lucky to be married to such a talented (and thoughtful) woman!

Thanks guys. I'm surprised she found the time as busy as she has been. Her work has been published in several mixed media art magazines. Her work is also on display and for sale in Boston, Phildelphia and here in Frederick. She also has a Etsy and Cafe Press shop. Here is some examples of work as well as link to her blog if your interested.

Fanfan first things first, I haven't been to the boards in awhile and saw you had quite a close call. My thoughts and prayers are directed to your full recovery and many happy years to come.
I would have loved to see a step by step video on how she made the Usagi Collage. She takes hundreds of small pieces of paper, fabric and glue and paints them into a creation. I don't have a video but heres a look at her work area/supplies and a work in the making and finished. Notice all the letters making up the road and the sheet music making up the sky. Often pieces of paper that have significant meaning or emotion behind them are not even visible in the final product but according to my wife add volumes.
