Does George Lucas ever actually show up at these things, or does he send some lame pre-recorded message? I personally don't like his attitude towards fans. Really, he owes his vast fortune not to any huge amount of filmmaking skill, cause he isn't a great filmmaker, but he owes all the fans who continue to see his movies, even when the prequels suck. He should have been at con when they announced the title of episode 3. But thats just my thoughts on him...

Either you hate him, love him, or a mixture of both. The latter I describe of myself. I love the movies, but do we really need another version of the movie on DVD???? He was at the previous Celebration con's, so most likely he'll be at this one.

Personally, I love him, no matter how I feel about his filmmaking or the new Star Wars movies. Regardless of whatever else he's done, he gave us the original Star Wars, and literally changed the film industry in ways that are staggering, and he will continue to be at the forefront of the industry.

In terms of a new DVD set, I agree with you, but that isn't Lucas' fault. He actually has no control over what Fox does with rereleases. He obviously gets a cut, so logic would dictate he doesn't mind a new version coming out every year, but he doesn't make the decisions in that department. I think what 20th Century Fox has done with Star Wars on DVD is borderline criminal. They give us this new crap about "the original version," but they purposely left the sound at Dolby 1.1. Now, I'm cool with hearing Star Wars as it sounded back then, but at least put it to theatrical standards. But, I'm sure they are saving that for the Blue Ray or HD-DVD format, so we have to buy YET ANOTHER Star Wars set.
