I heard a rumour that Don Rosa was in negotiations with DC comics to do something, specifically Green Arrow. I can't imagine that, but damn that would be cool if ture.

I haven't see Don in about a year, but whenever I've asked why didn't he create his own characters, he always said that he only wants to work on the ducks. I can't imagine him doing anything else, much less a superhero book.

Has anyone mentioned Darksaad? How about Canardo? Or Tronheim's McConey?

I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but Omaha the Cat Dancer is my absolute FAVORITE funny animal comic on Earth.

Sort of like an erotic soap opera, and a constantly turning and twisting plot that always manages to turn the entire story on its head.

Plus Reed Waller's art is GORGEOUS.

I've never heard of Darksaad, Canardo or Tromheim's McConey. Any good?

I plan on getting the Mouse Guard trade when it comes out. I think it was last week when Newsarama ran an artcile about a new comic called Mouse Templar. Anyone see that? I plan on checking that out as well.

I used to love Spider-Ham back when I was a kid.

I mentioned this on another thread just recently, but there was an eleven issue comic series from Ten Buck Comics (now available in two trade paperbacks along with the final unpublished issue from A I T Press) called "Space Beaver" which I thought was pretty neat. Created and drawn by Darick Robertson (TRANSMETROPOLITAN). http://www.viopac.com/~kiadm/beave.html

I'm going to try and get a copy of the Mouse Guard book...I might have to wait until a trade come out.

Has anyone read the Michael Golden ( I think) Bucky O'Hare stuff? I think it's 'Neal Adams Presents Bucky O'Hare' or something like that. I remember it being pretty good.

Man, there are so many good European comics. I actually really enjoy the 'album' format...I don't know if I'd say I prefer it but I do like it :)

-Howard the duck of steve gerber!!!best of the best!!!there is an essential with a lot of numbers of the run of the 70...and it has a lot of great artists like frank brunner, gene colan and john buscema...and the cover is of Brian Bolland...that is the true origin of vertigo!!!!!

and also check de mini series of 2002 with the comeback of gerber and drawn by phil winslade!!!

-if you love gerber so there you cant miss Stewart the rat,a graphic novel with Gene Colan...it is difficult to find but very worth...it has a reprint in 2003 I think...the original is from eclipse...it is just another cap from howard the duck but it is excellent...it is black and white!!!

-I read bucky of larry hama and golden,I am huge fan of golden, the art is so incredible that you dont pay atention to the story, the story is just another episode of an old cartoon of the 80...it is fun but not great!!!

there is coming a new movie of bucky o hare this year animated by neal adams!!!

-and if you can find check Squeak the mouse of an italian artist called matiolli, there are two graphic novels released by catalan communications..

from this book is from where they have copy itchy and scratchy of simpsons!!!

it has no dialogue, but it is so perfect you will laugh forever!!!

It definitely looks pretty inspiring to me! And it was around in 1984, so it pre-dates the Simpsons by several years.

Then again, maybe they both developed independently from Herman and Katnip through the brilliantly twisted minds of Groening and Matiolli (kind of like pyramids in Africa and South America)

hey guys sorry to dredge up an old tread but I've recently found some really cool anthro comics!

Jay Holser came to my school and presented an amazing lecture!

http://www.jayhosler.com/

His comics are really great and definitely worth checking out. 'Clan Apis' is a scientifically accurate account of a clan of honey bees and 'The Sandwalk Adventures' is an account of a conversation between Charles Darwin and a follicle mite named Mara living in his left eyebrow. I've only read excerpts but both books look really amazing! Jay was also awarded a grant to draw a text book for non-biology majors in comics form!

Jay also had some really positive things to say about Stan and Usagi in his lecture. He said that he had read a thirty page article in the Smithsonian about Samurai sword making and he was really disappointed because he felt like he didn't firmly grasp the subject. A few days later he read a four page sequence ( i think it was four pages, I don't have the issue he was talking about) in Usagi Yojimbo on the same topic and he understood it instantly. Afterwards we had a really nice conversation in which we wound up talking excitedly about Usagi 95 (the tea ceremony issue).

Anyway, sorry to be so long winded but I thought yall would like to know about jay's stuff!
