Mouse Guard in French

Post by Fanfan »

Image

Mouse Guard becomes in french "Légendes de la garde" (Guard's legends) and since i only own single issues of MouseGuard i cannot compare, i suppose it is the translation of the HC english edition.

Good edition, except the title, and the price, expansive compared to other comic books here (18,5€).
the bad point : Gallimard don't sell comics : novel and children books. For the very first time Galimmard publisher is present in comic book store.

Bienvenue !

Fanfan, the cover of that edition looks like the Fall 1152 edition cover, collecting all 6 issues; I don't remember how much I spent on my copy, but I'd guess it was well beyond 20 €.

Edit: I just looked it up: 27,95 € for the HC edition with a very nice epilogue; but it's a treasure...

The fact is there is no single issue, soft cover or hard cover in France, all books are pushished complete in hard cover (that is the normal edition).

There are usual price for (color)comic book and mouse guard is beyond this psychological price maximum. I suppose it is because Gallimard don't sell comic books and didn't care of that, they sell books for children in very small print and high price usually (the price should have been 16) . At least MG has a very good exposition in comic store (compared to the very first printing of Usagi, where you had better to know it does exist...), It is a really good edition it won't surprise me if MG finds its audience here.

The french book includes the epilogue.

Whereas the English h/c version I got for 10 quid (14 Euros)...

Still looking for a copy of the first sketchbook too.

I'm sorry to hear that; so you missed out on our (Fanfan and my) little transfer with Shamski last year...

Hopefully there might be another chance if someone of this Dojo attends another convention with Mr. Petersen;
although....Morna-san seems to be pretty close to Mr. Petersen....(hint, hint) :wink:

I got the one from Comicon last year courtesy of this forum (the one in the picture in this thread)... however I've already emailed Mr Peterson and he said he doesn't have any left of the first sketchbook sadly. So eBay it is, if I'm lucky...

Yeah, I have been trying to track down a copy of the Mouse Guard sketchbook myself. I missed it when the offer was posted last year.
