Iron Man
Anyone seen the Iron Man movie yet? I'm interested in seeing it since I've what I've heard about it is mostly positive and because Iron Man is probably my favorite Marvel character. I might wait a week or two for the crowds to thin out a little bit before I see it, though. It's actually been about two months since I've seen any new movies, so I'm about ready to go see anything that looks halfway decent.
One aspect of it that I'm somewhat interested in is that it's apparently the first movie to be completely produced and financed by Marvel. It's being distributed by Paramount, but my understanding is that this movie is completely a Marvel product.

I saw it yesterday and will see it again today. The acting was great and it was more intense then what I expected. The actors had great chemistry together and there were no weak links among them. It was a very good and entertaining movie and I rank it in my top 3 Super Hero movies right along Batman Begins and Spiderman 2. I can't wait for the next one and especially the introduction of War Machine. You need to stay till the very end of the credits for a special surprise.

I give it two thumbs up. It was just as good as the trailers indicated to me. I will definitely see it again!
Robert Downey, Jr, is a fantastic actor, and I can't see anyone else being Iron Man-- and I'm not an IM fan, don't even remember reading the comic, just know the characters from other things I've read.
And Stan Lee's cameo was brilliant.

Saw it, loved it. Bottom line, after several mishaps (Spider-man 3, X-Men 3) Marvel Movies are back...this one will clobber The Dark Knight, for which the trailers look pretty weak.
RDJ does a dead on Tony Stark. The special effects were amazing and actually complemented the movie as opposed to being the movie (think of the awful Transformers movie last year). Even though the movie follows along the same formula as other Marvel movies, it excels in it's storyline, acting, and visuals.
{Spoiler Below}
Did anyone else stay past the ending credits to see Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D...brilliant!

*waves hand frantically* I did, I did, I did!!!
In fact, I had been telling Buslady that I'd read he was supposed to have had a cameo, but it must have been cut out or something. Then we were walking out (I had made them wait, lol-- I like credits) and YUS! Caught it after all!

Loved it! I have a new respect for Robert Downey Jr*. I always liked his acting but now he seems to be over his trainwreck period and is knuckling down - good to see. Really fun but if I have a mild criticism; it lacks a bit in the emotional sphere. I still hold Spiderman 2 (and possibly 1) above Iron Man but we are going again on Friday so I may revise that.

* never thought of him as eyecandyish before - perhaps he was too young but this is a cute man!

I love him when he's pissed off

I caught up with Iron Man a little bit late today, and I enjoyed it quite a bit (I would've liked it a little bit more if Iron Man's suit had "thunderball fists" [anyone get that reference?]). I really hope that movies like this, Hellboy 2, and The Dark Knight help to put an end to the pejorative term "comic book action movie" that some of the lazier film critics throw around. It seems like comic book/graphic novel-based movies have really come a long way in the last 10-15 years.
I'm usually not too impressed with most of the big blockbuster movies that roll out this time of year, but I think that this year, the big summer blockbusters are actually fairly good for a change. I also enjoyed Speed Racer a lot, and despite its problems, I also had a good time watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
