The Last Airbender!!

Post by Robert Wetherelt »

I just got back from seeing this film. It was way COOL!! I'm now interested in seeing the original Anime! It's the first in a new series. It covers the 4 elements; earth, air, fire and water.
I won't give anything away for those of you out there that haven't seen it yet. GO SEE IT!! Plain and simple.

Abayo! :D

I need to vociferously disagree here. This movie was an absolute failure in writing, directing, and acting. Shymalan took everything I love about the original cartoon series and torched it. There was no character development, the plot was completely driven by expository dialogue, Appa and Momo were treated as really expensive props, and there was zero humor. Even little things like how the characters names were pronounced differently for absolutely no reason bugged me, there was no need for it except for Shymalan to put his stamp on it as his creation.

And then there's the whole issue of the production's highly dubious casting practices.

Don't waste your time with this travesty, just watch the original series.

Sorry that you feel that way dude. But...I really enjoyed it And it's made me want to see the original Anime. There's even a Manga of it out there that I want to get.
And I thought that the young actor playing Aang did a wonderful job. I can't wait to see the rest of this series of films!

I guess that we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Abayo! :?

I totally agree. I couldn't stand the live-action movie, and had never watched the originals. A couple of my cousins who are in High School recommended the Nickelodeon version. They also really disliked the movie.

I have been watching the cartoon now non-stop and am into the third book. It's a wonderfully written show and the depth of the characters is the best part. I even care if Appa lives or dies and he's just Aang's ride.
