Today, I sat down and opened up Dark Horse Books presents reprint of "Blacksad" by Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido. I knew nothing of this book. I ask my LCBS to put it in my pull after seeing it in the Dark Horse SDCC signature book and based on recommendations on this board.
The back covers says Guarnido is a former Disney artist. His paintings here are so full of detail and feel like we are looking at storeboards for a noir film. Low angle, bird's eye, dutch tilts, close ups, cowboy shots with his colors playing the role of the sound track. It was captivating storytelling.
Dark Horse did a nice job packaging it too! Great cover, nice introduction by Jim Steranko and clean look. Front cover quotes Stan Lee "As good as it gets!" and the back even mentions our favorite cartoonist, Stan Sakai. I hope it sells well so I can get a chance to read more Blacksad stories (edit: I just read these are the only stories.

Thanks for the recommendation folks! I hope you all get a chance to check it out if you haven't already.
Peace, maka
