Ah, that's too bad. :( I didn't know too much about him, but I appreciated his drawing style. A pretty unique talent in the industry.

Tom Veitch wrote on the FB panel to panel group, "Steve and I worked on Animal Man, as you know. I loved his clean spare style. (I especially like his version of me when I injected myself into the later stories.)

Steven as you may know had a big problem with alcohol. That went with his rough and tumble Irish upbringing, I'm sure. Not sure if that's the cause of death but one online report says this:

"Though a cause of death has not yet been reported, Bleeding Cool writes that Dillon had been sick in recent years. “We knew he’d been sick… but, of late had been teetotal. He’d slimmed down dramatically but his workload was ramping up… He still hit the bars, though now with a glass of lemonade, and remained the life and soul.”

Steve once told me a story about being in a department store in Ireland with his mother, buying an umbrella. Suddenly he had an urge to leave and he dragged his mom out of the store. Moments later an IRA bomb went off demolishing the store."

I never got into preacher. I read the first tpb at the library and found it little to graphically violent for my tastes today (probably would have loved it back in 1990). But I did buy Skreecher, which I just found out had his art. I also had some of the animal man issues. I will have to go back and read those again.

So young to die. May his family and friends have the support and memories to help them in these times of loss. Peace, maka
