Comixology cards (free comic)

Has anyone tried to use their Comixology redemption codes? I signed up today and whenever I enter a code it says...

'We're sorry. We do not recognize the code you entered. Please check the code and try again.'

I wonder if the codes were used ahead of time? Maybe they expire.

Has anyone been successful in using the codes from ANY of the Comixology creator cards?

FYI - Series 1 codes expired December 31, 2016. What a bummer!
