I just relized, I was going to confession last Wensday, mainly to clear my head of the totures ahead ...and I rememberd my big roasery kinda.....Shatterd. because on first occation, I was walking into the bathroom and it was tied to my waist, and it untied from around the robe belt and it fell on the bathroom floor.- then the last two was from my firend dropping in on the table, twice!- So all I have to use now is my finger Roasery....untill I can get a new one....

Anyway, one thing I did not know was that the Christionanity was a low percintage in Japan- And the Western wedddng has become more modern now a' days in Japan. But Most are Buddhist right?-

So, If the Japanese have a western wedding, Is that like Converting befor hand??.....

NOTE: This is not a religious thing, No Im NOT trying to convert anyone....Sorry had to get that out from the last disscution.....

As I understand it, most eastern religions tend not to be as dogmatic and/or exclusive as the 3 big western religions (Christianism / Judaism / Islam), and can coexist without much conflict.

Buddhism doesn't even have a main deity to pray to; instead, it gives you a set of rules which you should try to follow in order to attain happiness (simply put.) That's why there are buddhists in China, Japan, Nepal, Thailand, and all over Asia (and the world.) Shinto, Japan's local religion, is an animist religion (like native Noth-American tribes) with a mythology about the creation of the world and a description of the many gods that live in it (Grasscutter!) Shinto is a folkloric and cultural setting, and Buddhism is "the way" to live. You can pray to Shinto gods (praying for fortune, health, good luck, etc.) and still be buddhist.

My guess is that most Japanese like the Christian wedding because it's "pretty". They take the ceremony and use it because they like it, and not because they're doing a contract with God. From a western point of view it might look like some form of heresy, but religion there doesn't follow the strict guidelines it does here. It's not uncommon to see a Japanese family using Shinto, Buddhist or even Christian (marriage) ceremonies for different events (baptism, funerals, etc.)

Although I do agree that getting married by the Christian Church just because the wedding dress looks pretty is just silly.

Ohhh yea! I remember now- you can be Shinto and Buddhist, and it not be considerd bad. And have a western wedding without a second thought, because in the Buddist faith, you dont really have a set religous faith, as Jewish or Islam.

There is a saying, you are born Shinto, but you die a Buddhist. I read not tp long ago, the Japanese prefer a Western marrage, because it is so much cheaper then a shinto wedding. - Its like, what is in style, now.

I would love to exsperiance a different cutlture, religious wise, and step into what they belive. Its almost like they do the same thing, just about when it comes to western weddings.

Im glad though, the Japanese (and other culturs) do not lose faith in what their root faith is, and still live by it. It might now be as blunt as it was then, but thats whats so interesting about learning about the Japanese too.

Buddha is not a man, but a title given to a man for attaining enlightenment. There have been several individuals labeled "Buddha" over the years (hundreds of years that is).
Being laid back is probably the perceived calmness of quite mind one can achieve by practice and meditation.

Buddha-hood as it is said is only a lifetime away for those with the desire to do so.

The fat one was a marketing ploy by early missionaries from India, who found that a svelte Buddha figure was very unappealing to the Chinese. "OK, let's give 'em a big fat prosperous Buddha with giant earlobes to get started. The serious ones will get over outward appearances, and attend to the ideas."

There is a very low percentage of Christians in Japan even today. I addressed the "secret Christians" in a recent issue of UY.l

When my cousin in Japan got married, she had three changes of clothing during the course of the evening--a traditional Japanese wedding dress including the headdress to cover her "horns of jealousy", a western-style wedding gown, and a more casual dress. This is not uncommon in Japanese weddings. It can be very expensive. That is one reason why many couples fly their entire wedding party to Hawaii to get married there, and enjoy a honeymoon at the same time. It's cheaper.

Ok, your cousen had the Wedding Kimono-and the Western wedding dress. So she had like 2 sairimonys?..
And the casual dress for the wedding reception?

Hey, who do they call, the headdress the "horns of jealousy"? i thought is was just their version of a vail...And Did she have like both the Shinto and Western Wedding ?- How did it all get put togeather?- how did it work?

the budda in LWAC (lone wolf and cub) #2 was all like, you cant kill me, for i do not exist, to kill a budda, you must attain mu, and what not, but does that mean you could not mentally achieve this feat or is he all extraplanar until you are all mu like. can a cow kill a budda, i mean, he has attained moo, which is close enough.

cheat? i just scanned that picture, i have the book, i also have #2, but the condition isnt too great.

It's an AMAZING series! I would highly recommend picking up all 28 volumes if possible. At $9.99 (US) it took me about 6 - 8 months to collect them all.

In fact, I'm about due to reread the series again.
