Remember when you first road a bike?

Yesterday my daughter road her bike without training wheels for the first time. She was determined. Every time she fell, even when she said, “Ow that hurt!” she willingly picked herself up. She tried again. After countless falls she peddled for 3 seconds. And then she fell. Later 5 seconds and more falls. Finally 7 seconds. With each success pride and joy beamed brightly in her eyes and smile. She tried for over an hour and it was completely dark before we dragged her off that bike. Her self-esteem and pride made me joyful.
During the first 15 minutes of trying Cheryl said, “Angela’s reading a book on keep on trying in school.”
Angela said, “Yeah. Nobody writes a book called “Just Give Up” I think. I never heard of book title like that before. I’m going to keep on trying until I ride this bike. I’m determined.”
The magic happens not with success but in the determination to get up and try again. The magic is in the belief that we can do it even though we failed many times before.
Happy riding.
Peace, maka
