Last night my family experienced "Sgt. Pepper's at 40…a Beatles Celebration featuring Cheap Trick" at the Hollywood bowl.
It was fab.

The first half guest artist sang favorite Beatles songs. Two members of Ministry joined Cheap Trick for the loudest version of "I want you (she's so heavy)" I've ever heard.
The second half was the whole Sgt. Pepper's album back by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Cheap Trick, and Indian / middle eastern musicians (sitar, tabla , double violin, etc.).
When the sold out bowl is singing together "Do you neeeeeeeed anybody? I just need someone to love" it's pretty magical.
All artist sang back up when they were not the lead. Here's who sang what:
"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" – Cheap Trick
"With a Little Help from My Friends" – Cheap Trick
"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" – Joan Osborne
"Getting Better" – Aimee Mann
"Fixing a Hole" – Cheap Trick
"She's Leaving Home" – Cheap Trick
"Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!" – Ian Ball
"Within You Without You" - Rob Laufer
"When I'm Sixty-Four" – Cheap Trick
"Lovely Rita" – Aimee Mann
"Good Morning Good Morning" – Cheap Trick
"Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)" – Cheap Trick
"A Day in the Life" -Cheap Trick
"Within and Without You" was amazing live with the middle eastern musicians. "A Day in the Life" with the orchestra was memorable.
They ended the show with "All You Need is Love."
The Beatles music is full of love and hope.
"We were talking
about the love we all could share
when we find it
To try our best to hold it there
with our love.
With our love
We could save the world
if they only knew...
Try to realise it's all within yourself, no one else can make you change."
Peace, maka
