MikeM's trip to Alaska, 1st and 2nd Honeymoon, and Usagi

Hello,
Well December 2nd, 2006 I got married to an awesome girl. She puts up with all my comic stuff and has purchased me many Usagi items. How can you not love a girl like that?
Well, for our honeymoon we went to Saint Lucia. We weren't even there 24 hours before my wife slipped on the last step and broke her leg. It was a compound fracture, so it was rather gruesome. We then spent the week in a Sain Lucian hospital before flying back home to Canada. Needless to say it was horrible. Good thing I had travel insurance and was able to get my 15,000 Canadian dollars back that I had to pay up front when I was down there. They wouldnt do anything until they got my credit card. Luckily I had paid it all off before we left.
My wife then goes through the long journey of healing. She still isnt 100% but she gets around well enough most days. She complains about soreness and swelling pretty often though. Well, we decided that we wouldn't let our honeymoon be forever remembered as a disaster so we went about booking a 2nd honeymoon. This time I got to pick. I picked an Alaskan cruise.
It was awesome! The views, the entertainment, the food was all fantastic. It was a blast and one of the best vacations ever. My wife and I now refer to the cruise as our honeymoon and the Saint Lucia trip as just the 'trip from hell'.
Ok, here is where I'm getting to the Usagi part.
While on the cruise, one of the things you could go do is a lecture (an hour long) about the history of comic books. This surprised my wife as what were the odds that on cruise we were on, they would have a comic book talk when her husband is a comic nerd? So we went. It was interesting enough, but the gentlemen asked who collected comics I raised my hand proudly. Turns out I was the only one there who did. So he asks me what I collect. I say a lot of Marvel and DC, but my favourite is Usagi Yojimbo. My wife smiles and shakes her head as she can't believe that her comic nerd husband is talking comics during our honeymoon.
More Usagi stuff:
When our cruise ended we had a day to kill in Vancouver before our over night flight home. My wife lived in Vancouver for 6 years before I met her so we went to a huge strip where there were all these stores. It was really neat. I looked across the street and there was a store called Golden Age Collectables. "Golden Age" I thought. "Like Comic's Golden Age?"
I smiled and turned to my wife. She already saw the gears in my head turning. "Yes hon. We can go" she said before I could ask and away we went.
Inside I found VOLUME 18! This trade has elluded me for over 2 years!
I found it in a city on the other side of the country on my honeymoon!
Best vacation EVER! LOL
