The Dark Knight

I saw it last night and all I can say is... INTENSE. The pacing of the film reminded me of the Bourne Ultimatum because everything was moving along so quickly (unlike Batman Begins). Honestly, it threw me off at first because I was expecting it to slow down so that I could digest everything. Once I got settled in though, it was quite a thrill ride from there. I can see how some people wouldn't like a movie like this, but I really enjoyed it.

I saw Hellboy II, Wall-E, Kung Fu Panda, Indiana Jones, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man earlier in the summer. The Dark Knight stands alone at the top of the heap (for me at least).

Anybody else see it?

In my opinion, Heath Ledger's Joker actually succeeded in being the creepiest "supervillian" ever to make it to the silver screen. I don't know how Ledger managed to make one of the wildest characters in comic books semi-believable, but he did it.

The rest of the cast was damn good, including Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. Everybody goes through a beating in this movie, but poor Harvey fares the worst by far.

I also liked the film's message of how dealing with monsters inevitably turns you into a monster, regardless of your intentions. Anyone who becomes involved in one of the the Joker's plans (however innocently) might believe they're committing a great evil for the sake of a greater good, but in the end, evil only begets evil. You have to stop compromising somewhere, or you'll only be playing the Joker's game.

I saw it last night too...awesome! I completely had my doubts based on the trailers but those were quickly dismissed. What a great (and long) movie. It kept going and going, and getting better and better. I can see what all the internet hype is about with Ledger's Joker...definitely Oscar-worthy, and he certainly "stole the show"...what a dark, gritty version of the Joker.

Harvey Dent/Two-Face was also very cool.

Overall, an A+, beats out Iron Man!

I liked it a lot too. If you're looking for a really fierce Batman movie, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait to see it again.

I agree with Ben, I think there definitely is quite a bit of the Nietzsche "Be careful when you fight the monsters, lest you become one" thing in it. It's not really the usual thing one expects from a big summer blockbuster.

If there's anyone here who hasn't seen Nolan's The Prestige, I would really recommend that you do so. It's a pretty interesting film that shares some themes with Nolan's Batman movies.

I have never, ever seen a role SO intense as the Joker. Unbelivebly crazy.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I agree with everybody. I think it is the best superhero movie ever. It might even be the best action movie ever. It was intense, at times almost too intense! It was like a roller coaster ride without any stretches of slowing down.

I like the Lucius Fox character. The gadgets were amazing. It was done so well, you didn't have a chance to say, "That's far fetched." You just got caught up in it.

I really loved how they even had an explanation of why the eyes are white in the mask!
