Some Xmassy atmosphere topic
I'm interested what do you eat?
Well, I am from Poland, so:
The tradition is to make 12 dishes
Borsch -> Simple soup made from beet's, the most traditional dish for everyone in Poland i guess, usually with kind of dumpling -> "uszka" in polish > they are filled with stuffing of mushrooms.

Carp -> usually in jelly with flakes of carrot.

Dumplings -> Simple with white cheese, (called "Ruskie") or with mushrooms and cabbage <- more popular ones for christmas (but usually there are 2 kinds)
That mades the basic ones, then people make one of the many dishes connected to christmas like:
Dumplings made from cabbage with rice and meat inside -> something called "Gołąbki" (gołąbki means pigeons, but no, they arent made from these birds)
Many Cakes
poppy-seed cake (most traditional)

Kutia (i cant translate it)
made from: wheat, poppy, honey, delicacies, nutts...its like a substance but its made only in i don't know like... 1/4 of families....

honey-cake
apple-pie
cheesecake
Fried Fish - mainly Carp
compote
dried fruits
for next days of christmas
> usually some kind of meat to cook
> baked pie made from meat ("pasztet" in polish")
> whatever you like i guess
///
My family is half traditional, so beside making Borsch and Carp I'll make some sushi and we will cook some Salmon fish and we do eat "Hungarian Cake" < very chocolate and decorative cake.
