I may be the last person on earth to have figured this out, but I just realized that the guy who did Leo's voice in the old TMNT cartoon also did the voice for Kaneda in the old Streamline Pictures dub of Akira:

I've always wondered why people keep referring to that dub instead of the Geneon dub when Streamline Pictures had a habit of making "creative revisions" in their dubs. I never watch their dub of the Fist of the North Star movie unless I can get myself to ignore the blatant insertion of comedy and/or drama in scenes that originally had none. ^^'

Well, I'm back. I need to get back into the series, been so long since I read volume 7.
