When Keira and I go to our favorite Hibachi restaurant, we enjoy both sushi and terriyaki dishes. While I still maintain that terriyaki is probably the most delicious sauce ever invented, sushi is just the best.
K is more experimental with her sushi tastes than I am, though. I prefer the American-ized rolls, like Philadelphia, Alaska, California, etc. For some strange reason, I have an utter adoration for Kappa Maki though, which is just cucumber, rice, and seaweed.
Which food do you like better.

Well then enjoy this Takahara's Teriyaki sauce recipe:shaxper wrote: While I still maintain that terriyaki is probably the most delicious sauce ever invented. . ."
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Soy sauce
1/2 cup Sugar
1 thumb or more Ginger root
5 or more cloves of Garlic
Mix soy sauce and sugar in a bowl.
Grate ginger on a ginger grater. Add to soy sauce sugar mixure.
Dice cloves of garlic. Add to sauce. Stir well.
Marinate chicken (boneless skinless thighs are best), meat, fish (Salmon works well) for at least one hour, turning once. Marinate over night for best results. BBQ is best.
For chicken thighs, preheat BBQ grill for 10 minutes with cover on. On Medium flame (for you Weber fans out there) place chicken on grill and cover. Turn over once (and only once) after 4 to 6 minutes and cover. After 4 to 6 minute remove and serve hot with Japanese rice, steamed veggies, Japanese pickles, etc.
If you are cooking more than 8 thighs, double the recipe. You want the meat to be covered in the sauce.
Enjoy!
Peace,
maka
(I voted for sushi. Ikura is my favorite but I'll eat everything.)

We had a fabulous sushi dinner at MCCC with dojo members Stan Sakai, MikeM, shaxper, Steve Hubbell, Petersen, plus Sergio Aragones, Jeremy Bastian and assorted friends of the dojo members. I finally got to try otoro.vonkhan wrote:I love otoro sashimi
It is my new favorite! Pricey but totally worth it. One of those few foods that actually sends you into a little realm of bliss. They served it with real hand grated fresh wasabi - rather than the reconstituted stuff. Pure Nirvana! Again thanks for the reccomendation vonkhan.
