Happy Dolls' Day! March 3 is the Festival of Dolls where dolls of the Heian period Emperor, Empress, and their court are displayed on tiered platforms.

This day used to be known as Girls' Day, and May 5 Boys' Day. However, May 5 is now Children's Day. Both are national holidays.

I took these pictures at the Huntington Gardens last weekend-- they had the set-up in the Japanese Gardens section.

Oh, that third shot is from the pov of the house looking down on the lower garden.
