Movie: Muhomatsu no issho - The Rikshaw Man

Post by buslady »

Has anyone here seen this one?

It's a huge shame it's not of DVD, it's a really good story. Toshiro Mifune movie, he's brilliant of course. I've only ever seen a bad VHS copy of it I got at the Tustin Library eons ago.

Great movie about a rikshaw man who takes care of a high class woman and her son after he hubby dies. He ends up falling for her but being a low classman, he could never do anything about it. He continues to raise the boy as if he was his own son. There's some really awesome scenes like when Matsu gets up to beat the drums, probably my favorite part.

So anybody seen this screen gem?
