news:

The North American publisher Top Shelf will be releasing AX Collection, a 400-page selection of underground manga stories from Seirinkogeisha's bimonthly AX alternative manga anthology. AX magazine (no relation to the Anime Expo convention or Sony Magazines' defunct AX anime magazine) has carried Yūsaku Hanakuma's Tokyo Zombie manga as well as other works by Suehiro Maruo, Shinichi Abe, Nishioka Kyoudai, Naoto Yamakawa, Usamaru Furuya, Toshio Saeki, Akino Kondoh, Yoshihiro Tatsumi, and Toyo Kataoka. AX celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this year and will publish its 65th issue on Halloween. Author Sean Michael Wilson and AX co-founder (and former staffer of the defunct Garo magazine) Mitsuhiro Asakawa will co-edit the English-translated collection.

Wilson will hold a presentation on the magazine and alternative manga in general at San Francisco's Alternative Press Expo on Sunday, November 2. He will also give away a 16-page sampler (pictured at right) at the panel.
