Wasn't this also a live action film?

There were two films made -
Shurayukihime (1973)
aka "Lady Snowblood: Blizzard From the Netherworld" - UK
aka "Lady Snowblood"
Shura-yuki-hime: Urami Renga (1974)
aka "Lady Snowblood 2: Love Song of Vengeance"
It was also a major influence for "Kill Bill" according to Quentin Tarintino

So, I take it the original GN inspired the movie(s)? Or, is it the other way around?

I assume the GN came first, like with Lone Wolf and Cub, but I could be wrong. I have not been able to find a good English language bibliography listing Kazuo Koike' s work.

Well, I know he's written Lone Wolf & Cub, Decapitator Asaemon, (Samurai Executioner here.) Crying Freeman, and of course, Lady Snowblood.

205 items listed here, but babelfish does not translate Japanese very accurately, so exactly what's included on the list is hard to say...
Koike did at least a half dozen series with Goseki Kojima (including Lone Wolf and Cub and Samurai Executioner).

I bought all four volumes.
The sex and eroticism was a bit over the top (my Judeo-Christian upbringing is showing) but it read like some 70's exploitation pulp novel. I liked it.
The movies were good too.
I love any woman who can use a sword underhanded.

I enjoy the series as well. So far, I have enjoyed every one of Kokike's works that I have read.
