The best Martial Arts movie i have seen for a long time, perhaps the best i have ever seen !

trailers here :
http://www.movie-list.com/trailers.php?id=fearless

after Fist of Fury with Bruce Lee, and Fist Of Legend with Jet Li is a pleasure to see Jet Li again in this movie, that is about HUO YUAN JIA's life (at the contrary of the 2 firts movies that were about vengeance...story of the 2 first movies start when story of this movie finish)

The film is visually impressive, moreover it is very clever... it could have been one more "nationalist" movie, but the movie is upon this, we will follow HUO YUAN JIA, a great warrior that has understood nothing about what is important, he will loose everything and then become a master. The historical background is really interesting (we are around 1900-1910), and some strangers like americans (in the true story the catcher was russian) japanese (master Tanaka) are honourable too (of course we cannot say that of all the foreigners, most were colonialists and ready to kill Huo). Of course the end of the movie is tragic...

The meeting between master Tanaka and master Huo Yuan Jia is the kind of meeting i could imagine when i think about a story between Usagi and a Chinese. Around a cup of tea...

Bummer ending...

I've seen this trailer and I hope the entire movie is as good. Hero was fantastic.

I have no problem with westerners being portrayed as scum, because more often than not they were.

Don't lengthen the page width like that. It's really annoying.

just a quick tidbit here.
Tanaka was played by kabuki actor Nakamura Shidou, the same actor who has recently been the voice of Ryuk, the shinigami from the massively popular manga series "Death Note".

other than that, the extended director's cut is out on DVD in Hong Kong now and is just about 20-30 minutes longer. things are better explained in the director's cut now. i'd recommend a viewing of this version instead.
