Shueisha's "Weekly Shonen Jump" to cease publicati

Post by Angelcake the Fox »

Yes, it's true.

After thirty years of continuous publication, the magazine that was a home for One Piece, Mazinger Z, Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, and others, is ceasing publication after June 6th. The company explains the action as being due to declining sales.

.....Personally, although I'm sad to see such a staple of manga to go.....I'm not surprised to see it happen. Let's face it, some of the stuff they've been putting out has grown rather....shall we say, stale?

Sad, indeed.

Um, it's the Monthly Shônen Jump who ceases publication, not the Weekly seemingly.

Anyway, what's the point of having both weekly and monthly manga magazines ? Don't Japanese prefer now to wait for the tankôbon (paperback) editions ?
