My last hope....

Hi guys I have a problem that I am hoping you can help me with.

Back in highschool (1987-1991) I was given a novel that I started to read and never finished. I believe it was book one of a series. All I recall about it was that it had a red cover and featured a samurai. I thought it was called The Book of 5 Rings, but when I look the book up I don't think its that because the book I had started reading was a novel. Is there a fictional novel about Miyamoto Musashi?

I really don't know about english edition, but if you don't read the Go Rin, but a novel perhaps you started the famous book of Eiji Yoshikawa

Book 5: The Way of Life and Death

Occassionally, a full set will appear on ebay for a low price, and the hardcover single volume edition is easily available.....

The paperbacks have been out of print for quite a while, but the hardcover edition is in print and easily available.
