Media Blasters has announced that they're releasing the 1970s
Lone Wolf and Cub TV series starring Kinnosuke Yorozuya on DVD. Anyone ever seen this? I've seen all six of the movies released by AnimEigo, but I've never seen the tv series.

I have seen a few of them, and they were very well done. The stories followed the manga quite closely.
Kinnosuke Yorozuya was known as Nakamura Kinnosuke in his early films. He even played Musashi in one of the earlier adaptations.

I have the first 26 episodes of Lone Wolf and Cub on DVD (season one) but have not watched more than a handful of episodes so far. I really need to do something about that! I just seem to pick up other DVDs which demand to be watched first. I am just finishing up watching the Tokugawa Buraicho television series (1992) featuring sonny Chiba.
I also have the six films featuring Kinnosuke Yorozuya (Nakamura) as Musashi Miyamoto. I would really enjoy finding a set of DVDs for his version of the Sorekara no Musashi (Further Tales of Musashi) mini-series from 1981. I have the 1996 version featuring Kinya Kitaoji, but I have heard that the story had been modified from the previous versions.
Kinnosuke is a great actor and has been in literally hundreds of movies, playing a very wide variety of roles.
I actually read the Media Blasters press release Friday. I sure hope Media Blasters has better luck with the Lone Wolf and Cub series than they seem to have had with the Zatoichi series which has stalled at vol. #6. When I tried to visit their web-site, it seemed to have been shut down.
