General discussion (non-Usagi Yojimbo related) about all things Japan -- Feudal Japan, Samurai, Ninjas, Anime & Manga, Chambara films, Japanese Pop Culture, Otaku, martial arts, history, sushi, giant robots, Godzilla... anything Japan-related!
Dear Readers,
The Nova on Samurai sword manufacturing is excellent.
There are some cheesy bloodless sword fights but the rest is excellent!
Notice the foundry master is always smoking. I mean his body is steaming from all the heat he absorbed.
The chemistry and physics are well explained. the art is beautiful.
I also learned the sword curves itself as part of the cooling off process.
Why is Leeds so big on Samurai research? If it because of Stephen Turnbull?
Check this one out. You will not be disappointed.
Best wishes to all!

ps. How about the woman who shoots arrows at her father so he can cut them up in the air before they pierce him? Very cool.
I searched for this program on my Tivo, and I couldn't find it. (The PBS station is get is KERA in Dallas.)
I recorded a show that was on the Discovery Channel Monday night called "Weapon Master" that has something to do with samurai swords, but I haven't watched it yet. Anyone seen that?

your opponent is always yourself."
Thanks for letting us know about this. I checked, and it comes on my PBS station tomorrow evening. I think I actually did get to see this once, Go's description of what happens in it sounds familiar.
