Seijin no Hi, or Coming of Age Day, is a Japanese holiday that takes place the second Monday in January. It is to celebrate those who have reached the age of majority (20 in Japan) in the past year.

It used to be observed on January 15, but, in 2000, was changed to the second Monday in January. Ceremonies are held at local government offices, and gifts are given to the new adults. Women dress in furisode, or "hanging sleeve" kimono, and men wear traditional kimono with hakama trousers.
