Katanagatari

This is a new anime that just came out on the 25th of January this year. The story is based in Feudal Japan, right after the Sengoku period. The main charter is the son of an exiled warrior of that period who is searched out by a young women charged by the recent Shogun to find the 12 masterwork swords made by a rouge sword-smith from the early Sengoku period. From what I have read it will be 12 episodes long following the 12 light novels published in Japan. The first episode is very talkative, but interesting. The fight scenes are cool, and I very much like the style of the animation, very fresh, new yet with a retro twist.

Check out this opening and see for yourself. Anime-suki right now has the fan subbed versions of the anime, and maybe Crunchyroll will get the official sup releases, unless they come out over here!
