Next up is this piece I got from Katie Cook. It's 3x4 ink and watercolor. I believe I picked this one up at Long Beach Comic Expo.

And the third piece I just picked up today at WonderCon. It's by Jeremy Bastian, whom I discovered through David Petersen. The amount of tiny detail is incredible!

Here's a crop with a dime for a sense of scale of the details.

The funny thing is that I had thought about asking for Usagi in his samurai armor, but then decided to just request Usagi and let Jeremy decide how to best approach the character. So imagine my surprise when I picked it up and Usagi was in armor! :D The dragon was also a nice little bonus that I wasn't expecting. He'll be at San Diego Comic Con and, after looking at his original creations on his Instagram, will likely commission a completely original character. I like octopuses and old deep sea diving helmets, so I'll probably have him do something involving those two elements.

Yeah, Jeremy's work isn't huge in size but as you say, unbelievably detailed for what you get. I was debating either something Mouse Guard related or Usagi when he was here in the UK for LSCC, and opted for the former. Next time, I think I will opt for the latter :)

Okay, today was slightly awesome. I received the unused Usagi Yojimbo #156, page 9 art that I managed to get from Stan. When I saw it posted on Facebook, I immediately emailed to inquire about buying the page, as I know Stan's pages are extremely, extremely rare and you never know if or when another page will be made available. Thanks a ton to Sensei Sakai for selling it to me and Daniel for helping to facilitate the purchase and shipping. I'm absolutely thrilled to have this page.

There was even an extra head sketch on the backside of the page!

I can't stop staring at the page and grinning like an idiot. :D

Amazing page!

Owning one of Stan's unused original pages is so awesome, kind of like joining an exclusive brotherhood of extremely privileged Usagi Yojimbo fans, only to be outshone by the couple truly blessed fans who actually own published original story pages. :D

Of course, there is a third category of people who own original story page art by Stan from non-canon published Usagi stories (i.e. Usagi's Ark, etc).....

There are people who own published pages from canon Usagi stories? (not Usagi's Ark and others)
I thought Stan kept all published pages.
