A couple of sketches

Post by Matthew R »

I thought I'd share a couple of sketches that Stan gave my younger son years ago. One is from a comic con in Portland Oregon in 2008, and the second is from Emerald City Comic Con in 2009. For the Emerald City con, my son had drawn a picture of Usagi that he wanted to give to Stan, and upon receiving it Stan insisted on giving him one in return.

My son passed away in February due to an accident during US Army officer training, and as we organize his belongings these sketches were a nice memory. https://www.auburn-reporter.com/obituar ... utherford/

Thank you for sharing those meaningful and memorable sketches with us. And sorry for your loss of David. That must be difficult for a parent to lose a child. I can't begin to imagine that since we don't have any kids. So unfortunate... ...but I hope you have some cherished memories :)

Dear Matthew, I’m so sorry for the loss of your son. And the fact that he was so young, starting his professional career, and engaged is so heartbreaking. Thank you for sharing his obituary with us. Maka

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I appreciate it. I wish I had thought at the time to get a photo of David's drawing of Usagi, so I could share that as well.

Matthew, you might try contacting Stan (pm right here at the Dojo). Maybe he could provide you with a scan of David’s drawing for your own records.

The words escape me about how to reply other than offering my heart felt condolences about the loss of your child. I can't even being to imagine how I would feel if I was in your situation.

Thank you maichan. That is a nice idea, but I can’t imagine that Stan still has the drawing or that he would be able to identify the specific one given to him by a quiet 12-year-old in 2009, and I don’t want to put him in an awkward position.
