More Space Usagi please

Post by Redwall Templar »

I remembe in a letters column last year Stan Sakai was refering to the next Space Usagi. I don't remember how he worded it exactly but, he basicly refered to it as a War of The Worlds style invasion.

Anyone heard of any updates on this. If I have the honor of Stan Sakai reading this, might you have any updates on this yourself?

I was sure I heard him say he was done with Space Usagi, and I'm pretty sure that's even in the FAQs page.

Like your name, though. You a fan of Brian Jacques' work?

Actually, the War of the Worlds story will take place during Usagi's time of 17th century Japan. The premise being that before the Martians launched a large scale invasion during Victorian times, they sent a scout ship to Japan.

There is another Space Usagi story lined up. It will be a six issue miniseries. There is no anticipated date for its release. I'm having too much fun with the regular Usagi series.

Thank you Stan for the update. I am such a huge fan of you and your creations. I enjoy the stories and learning what I can out of each one, history and philosphicly.

And to you Indiana Usagi, Thank you for the compliment. I love Redwall. I am only on the 3rd book but, what a greatly detailed thought out world and its history. I am so glad to have discovered it on the bookshelves.

I dig your icon, looks like Usagi with a phedora hat, Am I incorrect? Personal-message me if you would like

Seems to be time for War of the Worlds:
1) Usagi vs. Hideous (I assume) Scouts
2) The likely-sucky modernized Spielberg movie
3) The likely-SUPER COOL period-setting movie!

...and as we're all fans of literature here, how about a link to the original novel?

How wierd is that...my reply to Indiana Usagi came up as a guest, instead of my handle. What's up with that.

Anyway, I just had to come back with another response. I am more intrigued that Miyamoto Usagi, will be facing these machines.

I am so glad you thought of doing this Stan, I am a big fan of War Of The Worlds. now my favorite fictional hero gets to square off against those nasty triclops martians, presuming bacterial infection and virues of Earth does not beat Usagi to it.

Kind of gets me wondering about Usagi Yojumbo decendents during the time of the would be full scale invasion. If I remember the book correctly, all those pods landing on Earth was happening worldwide.

I admit that I am only on the third book. So far I have to agree with you. The first book has all the classic archtypes placed into it. Everyone from Mathius to Asmodus, perfect.

I think I may open a section for Redwall, if you care to continue the discussion, that'd be great! :D

(I'm a stickler for sticking to topic mostly.)

Yeah, I've seen that, but I don't know whether those follow the books or whatnot.

It's on PBS, for those who are interested.

Ah, a fancier of the 1953 Universal version. Sweet, sweet technicolor. I refer, of course, to Wells' original description:
"Two large dark-coloured eyes were regarding me steadfastly. The
mass that framed them, the head of the thing, was rounded, and had,
one might say, a face."
and despite that, it's going to be jarring to see anything without a trifricate eyeball and ploppy tree-frog fingers claiming to be a martian.

Oh, by the way:
presuming bacterial infection and virues of Earth does not beat Usagi to it.
Spoiler warnings, eh?

I honestly can't vein that I know what is to be written. :P

I fancy both book version and moive version, despite dfferences. I like the description of the martian vessels from the novel, and I also love how the designs from the movie, not to mention the sound effects that go along with it.

There is really only one thing I didn't like about the movie. I'm sure I remember correctly about one the woman in it was just constantly screaming her head off. I can't remember a single scene where she wasn't either panicing or screaming her bloody head off. I'm sure there must be some in there but, wow she is deffinetly not like Segourney Weaver's Ripley.

Anyone remember the War OF The Worlds series? I sort of got a kick out of the debut? Sort of debunked a few things though, if I remember correctly. I do recall one episode in a later season that was sort of neat where in the colder regions of our world an older martian ship was discovered. It was smaller clunkier but operational still. I think the pilot inside of it may have been in a suspended state too.

I wonder if it was a scout ship. Can't remember, the ship only became active about 5 minutes before the episode ended. I'm sure you can figure out the rest.
