Please tell me about the Star Wars book. :D

I enjoy Star Wars, and at one time I was buying all the comics (Dark Horse), but I eventually gave up because I didn't always enjoy the stories, or the art. But sometimes I think of getting back into the books, but don't know where to start and haven't really looked into it or given it much thought.

Here's my haul from a week-and-a-half-ago...

Nice! I just read the first Jonna trade. Very quick read. Less than 30 minutes. Great art, ok story.

I always wanted to give Blade of the Immortal a try since it's actually printed the correct way. :P

As far as Star Wars goes, you can't go wrong with Kieron Gillen's Darth Vader. Some of the best Star Wars I've ever read plus it has Doctor Aphra and the assassin droids (Triple-Zero and BT-1)!!!! Pick it up from your library if you want to give it a try. If you like Doctor Aphra she has her own series. Not as good, but worth a read.

I also enjoyed the first few trades of Star Wars by Jason Aaron. If I remember correctly some of the older Dark Horse Star Wars with Cade Skywalker was good. I think it was called Legends. Haven't read it in YEARS so maybe it doesn't hold up.

I know very little about the Old Republic. I got it for 50 percent off so I had to give it a try. It seems to get good reviews so hopefully I haven't wasted my money. It'll be read after I finish Madman which is gonna take a while.

I read all of Star Wars (comics, books, RPGs, literally everything) up until Disney purchased Lucasfilm. Knights of the Old Republic, KOTOR, is hands down one of my favorite stores in that universe. I am a big fan of "reluctant hero, who gets swept up in a grand adventure" stories and even more so when the hero isn't the choose/destined one but instead someone in the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time. This story follows that familiar formula and sets it in a relatively unexplored era on the Star Wars Universe. The only other works in this era are the two games, KOTOR and KOTOR II. The comics do start to tie into them slightly as the series goes deeper but you really don't need to know anything from the games to fully enjoy the comic. It is very much its own thing.

The one slightly confusing thing you might run into is that KOTOR will contain the first four chapters of the Vector story line. Vector was a bit of an "event" that bridged all four (at the time) ongoing SW titles from Dark Horse. After KOTOR Vector then jumps to Dark Times and Rebellion for two issues each before concluding with four issues of Legacy. It is a time travel story and since KOTOR is set in the far past in comparison to those other books the story originates there. Therefore, you won't be "missing" anything but you won't have the conclusion to the overall Vector storyline. The portion of it in KOTOR is quite self contained though, you don't need to track down the other eight chapters. In fact, unless you read the previous issues of those other books you probably wouldn't glean too much from them. You can read more here: https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Vector

Whoa! Thanks for all the info. :D

----------------------------------------------

My other order arrived today.

Low book 2
Birthright book 10
Old Head
Radiant Black

*From what I remember Low book 1 (Rick Remender) was pretty good. Not Deadly Class/Tokyo Ghost/Fear Agent good (also by Remender), but still worth a read.
*I lost interest in Birthright around book 7, but I had to finish it.
*I liked Rock Candy Mountain (Kyle Starks/Chris Schweizer) so I figured I'd give Old Head a try. Same creative team.
*The only thing I've read by Kyle Higgins was C.O.W.L. and I did not like it. I got Radiant Black because Robert Kirkman compared it to Invincble which I loved. We'll see if I was duped. :P

I was too old for Power Rangers when it came out in the 90s so I didn't even consider giving the comic a try. I know there was a big rush to buy the hardcovers a couple of years ago. That's about all I know about it.

Not at all what I expected. I thought I was going to be reading about a cutesy little vampire who played basketball. Boy was I wrong! The preview was a bit misleading.

Old Head is in line with Kyle's other comic humor/horror storytelling. I love all of it. And he can draw some cute little vampires.

Anyways, I hope you liked it, even if it wasn't what you expected. If you don't, stay way from his other stuff.

Peace, maka

Just as good as the March trilogy. The fonts were easier to read too.

Was it intended to be the first of another trilogy?
