The two Epix volumes I have also seem to have pretty delicate spines, I would hate to try and scan out of one of them. I love the art used on the cover of Samuraj.

Tahngarth wrote:Heh, odd to see my LJ entry picked up and reposted that fast. I'm not really much of a photographer, so these were the only two pictures I thought were good enough to keep (it's also hard to take pictures in there because it's fairly crowded).

Meeting Stan was great, and I really love the drawing I got, but I'm a bit afraid to destroy the spine of the book if I scan it.
Hello and welcome to the Dojo, Tahngarth!

Yes, this forum is really quick when it comes to spotting something UY/Stan Sakai related on the web, thanks to a vast number of fan boys spread all over the world.

It's also fun to be here, so I hope you'll find it interesting here.

And I'd like to thank you for posting your LJ in the first place; it gave those unfortunate who could not attend the signing (like myself) an opportunity to share the event nonetheless.
Greetings from overseas

Hello from Sweden. My hotel has one public computer with internet.

The weather has been fantastic. I regret bringing all those cold weather clothing. I should have stuck to aloha shirts.

Poland was terrific as well--though very tiring. I was there three full days, did 15 intervíews (3 for television, 2 for radio, and the rest for print or a "meet the fans Q&A"). I had to travel to a new city every day, so it is nice to relax in one hotel for my stay in Stockholm. However, I was able to go to Auschwitz, the Nazi death camp. I love history, and this is definitely a part of history.

I will do a travel report after I return to the US on Tuesday.

Hello and thank you. :)

It's a very nice site and forum. Always great to see the original creator so intimately involved. As I said, meeting Stan was great fun, and I just had to cover it in the old LJ... Probably lucky I got some alright pictures and that I properly tagged the entry, yes?

I don't know how it actually finds things, but Google found your page in a search of blogs for "Stan Sakai" not long after you posted it. I was actually looking to see if there were any more blog entries regarding Stan's signings in Poland.

Hehe... I was with Stan at the SPX in Stockholm. .. and your pictures are at least much better than mine. I think I ruined every picture I took. BTW. Stan met with his Swedish Publisher, Mr. Horst Schröder yesterday.

I must say, that now when I met him, he's one of the all around nicest guys I have ever met. And he didn't miss a single fan that sneaked up on him with blossoming cheeks. If Stan is this nice, then I must go to the states and try to meet Sergio who everyone says is the nicest guy in the world! :-)

Usagi comics haven't been selling too well in Sweden (unfortunately) - The publisher isn't too happy about that, of course - but on SPX most people are comic book artists, writers and comic book students. A few of them came forward and paid hommage to Stan yesterday and a lot more named him one of their professional inspirations.

Well.. today (Sunday) Stan will do more signing as I understand it, and there will be an interview or discussion board at the stage sometime after one o'clock.

If you're in Sweden and want to meet Stan, I recommend that you go to Stockholm today.

Yes, Horst said Usagi did not sell well when he published the comics years ago. Book 1 did not sell well when he published it a couple of years ago. Book 2 did not sell well when he published it last year. Book 3 comes out soon, and it probably will not sell well either.

Yes, I am still here, but the SPX has ended for me. I will go back one more time to meet for dinner--a real Swedish dinner was promised. Tomorrow, taking the cruise around the islands, speaking at a school, and dinner with AT73.

Flying home very early Tuesday morning.

By the way, I´m feel very honored to meet Stan in person and got both autograph and handshake from him. But I feel little embarrassed about that I tried to ask him for autograph with pretty weak voice for the first time...

Hello Master Pelle,
welcome to the Dojo and thank you for your pictures; it seems you've had a great time at the SPX.

I've met Stan Sakai in Paris 2006 the first time and I was astonished how much fan boy behaviour I showed (including a sudden lack of words and grammar), so no need to be embarrassed, I think.

At least your stuttering wasn't uploaded on youtube  . When Mr. Sakai was drawing my autograph I stood there and had to concentrate extra hard over my third question. I was just so totally out of this world. Guess speech impediment comes with the territory when being around your favorite comic book writer/artist/letterer/and everything in between.

I have just checked out of the hotel, and am waiting for my taxi to the train station. Thank you to everyone on the boards who made it to SPX, especially AT73 who took great care of me, showing me the city and treating me to a smorgasborg last night.

Wish me luck getting home.
