I honestly never give much attention to the animal types. Unless you're looking at characters like Hebi or Kitsune, a character's species has little to do with their persona. Heck, I'm not even sure what Tomoe is. I never even thought about it before. It really doesn't matter to me.
I guess I am a bit curious as to why most characters seem to be a type of feline, canine, or pig, though. Are these the WASP equivalents of Anthropomorphic Feudal Japan? I don't think we've ever seen a rabbit outside of Usagi's home village, and Gen and his dad have been the only rhinos.
I'm a fan of small mammals in my own life, so if I had a preference, it would be for Hamsters and Guinnea Pigs.

Toda?
He's a Warthog?? I hope the spelling is right - or am I thinking of another Anthropomorph??? And I guess I'd like to see Elephants tooTodd Shogun wrote:I've got a question that's been bugging me for awhile. What kind of animal was Buichi Toda (Mifune's traitorous general)? In "Goblin" he looks like an Ox-based animal with a horn on his nose like a rhino. Any speculation???

How about some gorillas drawn like the ones on my favorite Groo cover? (I actually own a copy of this issue, which is, unfortunately, in pretty bad shape)

If I were to choose a bird species that I'd like to see represented in UY, I would pick penguins. For some weird reason, I think that if there were ever a Meiji-era UY story set around 1870 or so with American characters, depicting them as penguins work work well. It may have something to do with Western men's suits from that era.

This is a pretty oddball idea, but about armadilloes? (They're one of the three state mammals of Texas)
