Trying to rekindle the 1980s anthropomorphic rage

Hey guys,

I'm really getting into the imagination and variety of the 1980s anthropomorphic rage. Can you help me compile a list of some of the better stuff to come out of that time period? So far, I've dug up

Usagi - Duh
Nilson Ground Thumper - I really need to get around to reading this. What can you guys tell me about it (other than that Stan wrote it?)
TMNT - I'm surprised that I'm not enjoying the Mirage issues as much as I used to. Maybe I've outgrown the series?
Erma Felina - An obvious choice to any Usagi fan. I've read the first Albedo run and was a little confused, but I think I like it.
Cerebus - Who could forget the classic that started with a bang and died with an arrogant whisper?
Panda Khan - Those first few issues really floored me. Now I'm looking for more.
Bucky O'Hare - Remembered this one on a whim. He only made something like 8 comic book appearances, which I've since ordered. I loved the premise as a kid, but what will I think of it as an adult?
Flaming Carot - I've never read this. Any opinions?

So what else am I missing?

Mighty Mutanimals - they were VERY short-lived, most likely because people didn't like the standard of the artwork. I remember being particularly drawn to Jagwar and Dreadmon, as these were the first two
I saw in the Archie TMNT comics as well as Man Ray and Mondo Gecko...

Cutey Bunny...Joshua Quagmire's sexy bunny heroine. It went for six issues or so then pettered out, unfortunately.

What about "Adolecent Radioactive Hamsters..." or some such nonsense. Don't know too many details about it.

And Cerebus didn't die with an arrogent wimper, but with a gastro-intestinal emination. Gotta love Dave.

A lot featuring all five issues of Panda Khan, as well as the misc. comics which featured short stories, thirteen comics in all, sold on ebay a couple days ago for $1.00 (plus shipping). They listed several issues of Laffin' Gas as containing Panda Khan stories.

Critters, Dog Boy, and Captain Jack by FB....Tales of the Beanworld...Menagerie...Omaha...Boris the Bear...Fish Police...Spaced...Maus...Hepcats...Miami Mice...Equine the Uncivilized...Patrick Rabbit...Frank the Unicorn...Gnatrat...Space Ark...Weasel Patrol...Fusion...Xanadu...Morphs...Furrlough...Sam & Max...at over 50 issues, Critters alone should keep you busy for awhile with awesome series like Birthright, Lionheart, Gnuff, and many more. Gizmo by Mike Dooney,while not a purely anthro comic, deserves a mention.

Not sure if you read the Albedo Vol 1 comics or Command Review, but Deal Whitley's High Orbit which appears in several of the issues mid-series filled the vacancy (quite nicely I may add) left by Stan in that awesome anthology.

Does anyone remember Peter Porker, the Spectacular Spider-Ham?? Not a B&W but definitley a worthy effort by Marvel to cash in on the anthro craze...

There were a few other ones, of lesser mention, like Naive Inter-Dimensional Commando Koalas, Samurai Squirrel, and something about Pre-pubescent Kung Fu Gophers???

I know! I'd been planning to snipe it, but fell asleep. I was so angry at myself. I can't find Panda Khan #4 anywhere else

There was also Scott Shaw!'s The Amazing Man-Spider--a spider who gains the proportional powers of a man. He has 8 limbs and everything.

In fact, Scott could fill this category all by himself. Some of his other comic book creations are:

You-all Gibbons, Dogzilla, Quackula, Nuts-n-boltz (Frankenstein), Urban Gorilla, Captain Carrot and the Amazing Zoo Crew (but this was for DC), and Poindexter Toxin.

Yes, I should have mentioned Captain Carrot! I saw him the other day too. The owner of my local comic shop lets me go through her basement of overstock comics that have been sitting there since they came off the shelves, and the collection goes back to 1970. I've found some real beauties there. An entire box of Captain Carrot 1&2 was just one of the many pleasant surprises I've stumbled upon.

Dogzilla and Urban Gorilla sound like a lot of fun!
