Tattoo info

Post by Rich001 »

I have been reading UY for many years, and my wife has been trying to talk me into getting a tattoo for a coule of years. :? I have narrowed down my choices to a couple of Usagi covers and/or a painting I have, or some combination of these.

Are there any copyright / trademark issues that I need to be aware of?

I'm leaning towards color, but have seen some really good b/w work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't believe there are any copyright/trademark issues, as many people have gotten Usagi tats over the years... http://usagiyojimbo.com/fanartandfiction/bodyart.html

I don't think you need to concern yourself with copyrights or trademarks unless you intend to make your Usagi tattoo a commercial enterprise, such as going on the talk show circuit as the guy who has an Usagi tattoo, or making a multi-million dollar blockbuster movie starring Brad Pitt about your tattoo.

No problem if it's for personal use.

That's only if he has the contents of an entire Usagi Yojimbo comic made into a full body mural

If you do go ahead and get a Usagi tattoo, don't forget to get a pic of it and show us all here. I have one tattoo now, the Superman symbol on my right arm. I keep thinking of getting a Usagi tattoo on my left arm, but can't decide on the pic.

My friend Bill has a traditional Usagi tattoo, and I have a sumi-painting (art by Andy Lee) style Usagi tattooed on my thigh. When I can take a picture I'll send it in. Showed it to Stan at Anthrocon one year, very cool experience!

Not yet. The tattoo artist I am going to has a 3-4 month backlog, so I am scheduled for early January.

And I would never have Brad Pitt playing me in a movie. Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck) is more like me.
