The Art of Usagi Yojimbo

Post by Stan Sakai »

The Art of Usagi Yojimbo has been greenlighted for an October release from Dark Horse. It will be a 9 x 12" hardcover coffeetable book. Stan Lee has already consented to provide the introduction.

Other features it will have: a 48 page color section printing water colors and paintings I have done including the original Return to Adachigahara and The Guardian stories, a creating Usagi section with the "How I create an Usagi story" and "creating comics" featurettes, little seen artwork, and a 16 page guest artist section.

Sounds absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to get a copy!

Any idea on the price?

Can you provide any information on the new limited edition print which you mentioned prior to the Emerald City Convention? (Not the print/poster featuring the 20th anniversary artwork which appeared on the backs of the recent issues of Usagi Yojimbo)

Thanks...

There was a snag on the prints, and they were not available at Emerald City. The publisher is considering making it a four-image portfolio instead of prints. They will be four all new images, watercolored by myself.

Any comments on this? Would people prefer individual prints or a portfolio set?

A four piece portfolio actually sounds four times as cool as a single print...
Again, any info on suggested price range or possable release date?
Thanks

Oops, I hit submit too soon.

I've always wanted to see Sam Kieth's take on Usagi.

Is he one of the 16 or should I wait until October? :)

Damn Deja vue! If you go way back into the old archives several years, you will find that I asked this same question, back around the time I first found the Art of Usagi Yojimbo issues 1 and 2 from Radio Comix...
