Trivia contest December 12th-18th

Post by Warren »

After enjoying myself with Jabba's month-long scavenger hunt challenge, I thought I'd be totally original and post a week-long scavenger hunt challenge.

I've arranged seven single panels from a semi-random selection of duels that Usagi has fought over the years. What I'd like to know for each image is:

- The name of the story* the duel appears in. (Including part or chapter if applicable)
- The page number of the story* the panel appears on.
- The name of Usagi's opponent in the duel.

In descending order - top panel first, etc.

* I won't be too much of a stickler about issue numbers and the like, since I'm getting these from reprinted collections myself. On the same note, 'page number' refers to the number that Stan places in the corner of each page, rather than collected edition page numbers.

Here are the panels:

As usual, PM me with your answers. The winner will be randomly chosen from all who provided the correct information, on Sunday 18th December, and will receive a copy of Samurai: The (Unofficial) Japanese Warrior's Manual by Stephen Turnbull, from my bookshelf (and yes, it's supposed to be yellow at the bottom!):

I hope that's all satisfactory. And away we go!

Great search contest! If I have time next week, I'll dig through my books and see if I can't find some of these.

Hmm. Maybe I should've relaxed the requirements a little!

Still a few hours to go, though. Full info can still act as a tiebreaker, but 'name of the story' will do for a place in the running.

This is a fun contest, but I haven't found them all. I've been busy looking for death skulls. Sorry.....

If you don't get any answers maybe you can use it again as the first question in January?

I usually look for trivia answers while watching a soccer match or something else that doesn't require my undivided attention. :)

Yes, this is a great idea for a contest, and I must apologize for not participating. Unfortunately there's not enough hours in a day and I simply haven't had time to tackle the hunt. But like Gaffey suggested, maybe you can run it again, or just extend the cut off date by a few weeks (give it a 30 day run?).

Sorry for disappearing! Another sign that you guys are right - it was just the wrong time of year for for a short contest.

But I did get one reply in time, so Steve Hubbel wins the contest. Congratulations Steve, and good work. :)

The correct answers, in descending order, are:

Komainu, page 20, fighting Shirai.

The Gambler, the Widow, and the Ronin, page 17, fighting Kedamono.

The Secret of the Hell Screen: Part Three, page 15, fighting Hasano.

The Shogun's Gift, page 16, fighting Shingen.

The Mother of Mountains: part six, page 14, fighting the Orphan Maker.

Lone Goat and Kid! page 14, fighting Yagi.

Boss Hamanaka's Fortune: part 2, page 20, fighting Kin.
