DojoBoard - Good News

Post by maichan »

For those of you that don't frequent Facebook...

There was a discussion going on where someone mentioned the DojoBoard being down, so I let them know we're still here.

Daniel Fujii chimed in with this reply:
we're planning a website overhaul which will include fixing the forum access but are waiting for a few things beforehand. Sorry about the delay!
Hey, now that's something to look forward to! :D

I’ll be glad when that happens. Facebook has a lot of pluses. But this, like you said, is home. Peace, maka

I'd like to put in a request if at all possible for whenever the forum gets a refresh... to the powers that be, please consider this:

I'm not sure about others here, but I'd like to see url's open in a new tab or window rather than being redirected in the current tab. I can't tell you how many time I clicked a link, checked it out, then closed the tab, only to then realize I should have gone 'back' to the Dojo's board.

ctrl + click (cmd + click) - open link in a new tab and keep current tab opened
ctrl + shift + click (cmd + shift + click) - open link in new tab and switch to it

Not ideal but with almost 2 decades+ on the web I browse with my non-mouse hand hovering over those keys and use them without even thinking about it.

Yeah, I know the tricks, but that means I have to think before I act.

It looks like the forum has been hit with a flood of spam registrations, going by the list of new accounts waiting to be activated. I have not looked to see how many were self activated by email link. I deleted one spam post earlier today as well.

Are there further security levels that can be in place to weed out fake members?

Also, if you ever require additional moderator assistance, I am always willing to help out in whatever way I can.

Looks like a bunch are already activated, going by the newest members on the last two pages of the members list. We use to have a question and answer captcha security feature. Not sure if that is still an option.

The Q&A captcha is still there, I’ve swapped the registration process over to using that instead, and reduced the number of failed attempts allowed before you get locked out.

There has been 3 or 4 spam registered accounts that posted some foreign pornography site links. I deleted the posts. Mayhem & Steve, thanks for doing the Administrador stuff in the background to help fans out. Peace, maka

Hopefully genuine Usagi fans can register... there's been no new accounts since swapping to the Q&A heh.

Hey there y’all, extremely new to the forum (about 5 minutes to be specific) and I just wanted to say that even as a very long time reader with multiple rereads, the 2 questions y’all used to verify were pretty ambiguous… at first I didn’t realize it was a subject field looking for a direct answer, and then even once I figured that out I still struggled to find the answer and name format it wanted.

I’m not going to say any of the things I tried so no one can set up a bot with the answers, but I felt like multiple answers could work for either question, and the fact it just said my answer was invalid didn’t help me nail down what I was doing wrong.

Obviously I figured it out in the end but it wasn’t without getting locked out of trying to register a few times, and I’m sure some people not as dedicated as me would have given up. (Side note to that when I hit the maximum amount of attempts, y’all’s little clear cookies trash can at the bottom of the site allowed me to bypass the lock and reset my ability to attempt to register. Dunno if that was on purpose)

Super glad to finally be a part of the forums. My father used to be a part of a similar forum from the late 80s early 90s that I still have his dot matrix printed collectors list of Usagis from.

Nice to makes y’all’s acquaintance.
