I just wanted to mention that I ran across a listing for an issue of Albedo #2 for sale at http://www.comicspriceguide.com/ priced at under $5.00 in fine condition. Naturally, I sent an inquiry to the person who had listed it, but was told that it had already been sold.

I was lucky enough to find this book for sale and nabbed it pretty quick (along with an Albedo #1). A nice collection filler-inner.

A question: Both books have a price tag sticker on their covers (knucklehead store owner!) Does anyone know a good way of removing them safely/easily?
The #1 I actually put in the freezer for about 10 mins and then peeled the sticker right up. The results were adequate, but not perfect, so I'm afraid to do so with the #2.
I've heard someone suggest dipping a Q-tip in clear fingernail polish remover and setting it on the sticker until it soaks in.. but I'd be pretty nervous about doing so with this particular book. Has anyone heard of, or tried this method before?
Any other suggestions?

Couple quick questions... When did you buy them? (I'm curious about how long the #2 issue was up for sale). How much did it cost you for the Albedo #2?

YES, your local craft/hobby shop will have a product called BESTINE. It's an alcohol base that soaks through the price tag and dissolves the adhesive. Apply lightly with a Q-tip. It will come off within a few minutes. After use the Bestine to take off any additional goo.

Only warning would be to be careful with how much you use and how much pressure is applied. Too much Bestine and too much pressure will rub the color off the covers.

I should probably try it on an expendable comic first.. maybe even take a before/after photo. There will be much crossing of fingers.

Sorry I don't remember exactly what day it was.. but I think it was right around the beginning of November. I hadn't visited that website in months, so I couldn't even guess how long it had been up for sale at that point.

mentions serigraph covers of Albedo #2. Is there any more information about them anywhere?
I got one on Ebay a good two or three years ago, but have never been able to find out anything more about it. It really is pretty spiffy-looking.

Not much more is known about them than what is posted on the link. Steve Gallacci was working at or had access to a t-shirt printer at that time. Actually, I think he hand screened it. He was doing a few t-shirts about that time and selling them at science fiction conventions in the Pacific Northwest. He had the great idea (or a brain hemorrhage) to silk screen the covers to Albedo #2. Each color and tone would require a separate screen, and each screen would have to be registered so the colors would not overlap or create white spaces, and the printing would be done by hand without the paper moving. It was to have been at least a 7 color print ( I actually think he told me it was 11 colors, counting the back). His ambition was to print all 2500 copies this way. He did about a dozen or so, realized the enormity of this task, and gave up. He gave me a few of those covers, not all the colors were printed on them though. They're somewhere in the quagmire of my studio or garage.

He used a very heavy plastic-based ink, on very thick card-stock paper. If I remember them correctly, they were really quite nice... suitable for framing.

Well, I haven't had time to do the price tag removal on the comic yet, but I did snap a few photos of the silkscreen cover.

The ink is noticeably thick, and by my count, there's at least 9 colors on this one: Black, Dk Blue, Lt Blue, Brown, Yellow, Red, Lt Gray, Dk Gray, Green.
