Dark Ages Miniatures update

Post by Stan Sakai »

I'm currently waiting to see the Inazuma figure, but in the meantime I've drawn designs for the next six figures. They are:

another Usagi (what can I say except the hero always sells the best)

another Kitsune (to replace the discontinued free first figure)

Tomoe (for you, Todd)

Chizu (someone for Tomoe to fight)

Neko Ninja (can't have too many bad guys)

Mogura Ninja (what I said above)

I just received prototypes of the Inazuma and Jotaro figures, they look great. Inazuma is, I think, the best so far though I asked for one minor change to her. Both should be available soon.

You can see 7 of the figures here. I believe shipping is $6.00 to Canada.

When can we expect the next releases in the mini range?

I read somewhere that the promo Kitsune is to a different scale, is this true?

Can someone point me towards a colour image of Inazuma because I can't place her at all.

Only a couple painted so far...

She can be found on the Character Overview page. Look on the left side between Jei,Keiko and Hiro.

Has the miniatures line been canceled? It's been quite a while since Inazuma and Jotaro came out, and we still don't have the others... I'm REALLY looking forward to them. (I mean, you can't stop without at least doing Tomoe, right? And a neko ninja. And a Mogura Ninja. And... AH HECK, Just do the whole CAST!!

Oh, yeah... and maybe the woodcutter and his wife, yes? They were almost as constant as any of the other characters!
AND Zato Ino!!!
Hmm.... Lone Goat and Kid!
OH! SPOT PLEASE!! THAT IS A MUST!! (Maybe standing next to the new Usagi figure??? Or Zato Ino???)
At any rate, I'm going to begin the painting process on my Usagi tonight, but I may have the same trouble I had with the Scared Peasant-- FAR too much glare from my digital camera to get a good enough pic. Let's hope I can fix that problem this time.

Last I heard on the mini line (from Discount Hobby at the time of the Inazuma/Jotaro release) was that one of the Sculptors was ill... which is why the second release was only 2 figures instead of 5. He also expressed some regret at having made the figures so large a scale.

Couple of questions:
1 - Jei ... Grey or Brown?
Most cover images are grey fur/skin, book 3 has him brown. I'm thinking grey but it's not going to give me much contrast on the figure.

2 - Jotaro ... Bokken or Sword?
The figure has him with a sword, all the images I can find have him with a bokken. Personally, I'm leaning towards filing the sword fixtures down to make a bokken.

Not that it really matters, I'm just curious what other people think before I make up my mind.

The newest figure, a Mogura Ninja, is being solicited in the August 2003 Previews catalogue, for an October shipping date.

To see a picture of it, see page 501 of the catalogue. I modified the design a bit and gave him huge digging claws.

I was in Hawaii in late June/early July--just before San Diego. I didn't do any appearances, though. I was also there last summer, doing presentations and signings at a dozen libraries on Oahu and Kauai.

We may go back either this Christmas, or Easter 2004.

I think Jei would look better in grey(more "evilish")...
Abayo!
