Usagi statue purchase poll

Post by roel »

Here is the statue.

Please submit your vote if you would like to purchase this in the poll above. This will help me decide if I will produce a small production run or not. Thank you.

Check out my "Usagi statue" thread for more pictures.

Yes Steve, yours definitely counts.

I didn't mention the purchase price before because I'm still not sure what it would be but I'm trying to keep it under $100. It would realistically be between $80-$100. Hopefully not more. The more people that want it the better price I can give. If not too many people want to purchase it than the price would be a little more and it would than become a really exclusive item.

Hello,
it's cool to see what can be achieved, if able and willing people meet....

I would definitely like to have at least one of these statues, two if possible; I'm always looking for suitable presents for a friend of mine, he's as comic-crazed as I am.

Do you have any idea how much the shipping costs would be, btw? Not that that would make me think twice about wanting the pieces, mind you...
Greetings from overseas

I haven't really put too much thought about the shipping. I'd have to find out what would be the most efficeint and reasonable price for everyone.

That's great Dranatha. Did you hit the "yes" button on the poll on top of the page?

Whoever voted "no" on the poll, would you be willing to share your views? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Did you not like the sculpt, the price? Thanks for your help.

I voted yes on the poll, but I do have reservations concerning the price. I have advocated several times in this and a few other forums the need (?) for the production of smaller sized figures grouped into sets rather than more statues similar to the two statues which were already produced, mainly due to the cost.

The first statue (of Usagi), even though there were some features which were not appreciated all around, sold well and is now hard to find for anywhere near the original $79.00 price.

The second statue seems to have sold less well (or maybe more were produced?) since they seem to be still available at and even below their original $79.00 price.

Your line-up of potential statues, Roel, is great. But it is only a fraction of the great characters that Stan has created and which would be fantastic subjects of statues as well. Characters such as Chizu, Inspector Ishida, Sasuke the Demon Fighter, and several others would also be cool.

Unfortunately, at anywhere from $79.00 upwards of $100.00, the sales of the statues are going to be limited to mainly Usagi, and a limited number of which ever characters might be the buyer's personal favorites.

I don't know, I guess what I'm trying to say is that a the Usagi statue would sell well with the high price again, but any follow-up statues would have less sales forcing higher prices, etc. etc.

I would love to see about twenty differant Usagi characters produced in approximately 3-4 inch tall figurines and sold in sets of 6 or 7 per set, similar to what Dark Horse has released for Groo, Hellboy, the Goon, etc.

Abayo....

oh, lol. I pressed no. I figured no one else was doing it, so I might aswell be a rebel.

but actually, I'm just not interested in getting one cause I have zero dollars.

the statue itself is fantastic.

I would love nothing more than to sell this for as cheap as I can since I think everyone who wants it should be able to get it. I initially did this for myself but when the sculpt was finished it was just too beautiful to keep to myself. I'm in the process of creating my own toy company and this was going to be a good test if I proceeded or not. I don't really need the money so this was done as a passion of love and I actually wouldn't be making too much from this. I just really love Usagi and wanted to share it with everyone else. If Usagi fans don't want to buy an Usagi statue it might prove difficult to sell to the general public.

I'm trying to keep the costs as low as possible. It would be great if I could sell it for $40 but the costs to make this is pretty expensive and the reason for the price. People in the toy industry have been telling me I need to charge more but I don't want to since I want as many people to be able to enjoy this figure.

If I knew a lot of people were interested in this I could probably produce a larger number thus reducing the costs for everybody. A lot of my friends from the toy industry said I was crazy for doing this but I thought people would love to have this. We'll see what happens and the actual price may be cheaper. The cost I put out there is not set in stone and like I said before I'll try to give the cheapest price possible.

Oh Steve, by the way I'm actully doing a 3 inch line of all the Usagi figures. I thought it would be cool to have them as pvc figures to place on your desk as well as for christmas ornaments. I'll post pics once those are done.
